On February 7, 2022, the Department of Law at Rajshahi University had the honor of hosting two distinguished guests from India:
- Professor Dr. Manik Chakraborty: Former Professor and Director of the Department of Law at the University of Burdwan, West Bengal, and Professor Emeritus at the Department of Law at Sister Nivedita University, Kolkata.
- Professor Shachi Chakraborty: Professor and Former Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Calcutta, India.
Engaging in Discussions with Students and Faculty
The visiting professors had a wonderful time interacting with students and faculty members of the Law Department. Their speeches, particularly, left a strong impression on everyone.
- Professor Manik Chakraborty delivered a thought-provoking lecture on the Russia-Ukraine war from an international law perspective. He discussed the legal aspects of the conflict and its implications.
- Professor Shachi Chakraborty focused on the crucial issue of gender justice and women’s empowerment in her talk.
Meeting with the Vice-Chancellor
In addition to interacting with the department members, the Indian guests also had the opportunity to meet with the esteemed Vice-Chancellor of Rajshahi University, Professor Dr. Golam Shabbir Sattar. This meeting likely involved discussions on potential collaborations and academic exchanges between the universities.
